Wat houdt een algemeen bloedonderzoek in?
Een algemeen bloedonderzoek bij Easly bestaat uit een vingerpriktest. Aan de hand van deze bloedtest kom je de waarde van verschillende diverse bloedcellen te weten, zoals onder andere de waarde van bloedplaatjes (trombocyten), rode (erytrocyten) en witte (leukocyten) bloedcellen.
Met deze preventieve gezondheidscheck verkrijg je een duidelijk overzicht van jouw gezondheid.
Waarom zou ik mijn bloed laten testen op alles?
Een uitgebreid bloedonderzoek geeft het meest volledige beeld van jouw gezondheid. Bloed bestaat uit verschillende onderdelen: vocht of plasma (met daarin allerlei opgeloste stoffen) en de bloedcellen. Daarom is het in veel gevallen minder nuttig om slechts de waarde van één enkele stof te meten.
Wanneer er wat mis is met je bloed kan dat leiden tot verschillende symptomen, afhankelijk van waar het probleem zich voordoet. Hieronder hebben we opgesomd op welke bloedcellen we testen en waarom dat belangrijk is:
Hemoglobine (Hb)Hemoglobine is een eiwit en onderdeel van de rode bloedcel. Elke rode bloedcel bevat ruim 200 miljoen hemoglobine-eiwitten. Het speelt een zeer belangrijke rol in de zuurstofvoorziening van organen en weefsels. Een normale hemoglobine-waarde is verschillend voor mannen en vrouwen, waarbij voor vrouwen en zeker zwangere vrouwen, lagere waarden worden geaccepteerd. Een te lage hemoglobine-waarde zal op den duur leiden tot zuurstoftekort op weefselniveau en kan ernstige gevolgen hebben. De hemoglobine-waarde kan ook te hoog zijn. Dit kan ontstaan als gevolg van uitdroging, longziektes, beenmergaandoeningen en van verblijven op grote hoogtes.
Hematocriet (Ht)Hematocriet meet het aandeel rode bloedcellen in het bloed. Een hoge hematocrietwaarde kan twee oorzaken hebben: uitdroging of een teveel aan rode bloedcellen. Een verlaagd hematocriet duidt op bloedarmoede. Een normaal hematocriet ligt voor mannen iets hoger dan voor vrouwen.
Rode bloedcellen (erytrocyten)Rode bloedcellen worden ook wel erytrocyten genoemd. Erytrocyten worden aangemaakt in het beenmerg en bevatten hemoglobine. Ze zijn essentieel voor het zuurstoftransport naar organen en weefsels. Een tekort aan rode bloedcellen wordt bloedarmoede of anemie genoemd.
Witte bloedcellen (leukocyten)Witte bloedcellen worden ook wel leukocyten genoemd en maken deel uit van het afweersysteem. De diverse soorten leukocyten spelen allemaal een eigen rol in de bescherming tegen infecties. Een normale waarde valt ongeveer tussen de 4 en 10 en is niet afhankelijk van geslacht. Een stijging van de leukocyten wordt leukocytose genoemd en wijst vaak op een infectie. Daarnaast zijn er ook andere oorzaken voor een hoge waarde aan witte bloedcellen, zoals leukemie, ernstige stress, verwonding of verbranding. Uiteraard is ook een te lage waarde van de leukocyten mogelijk. Dit wordt een leukopenie genoemd.
Bloedplaatjes (trombocyten)De bloedplaatjes of trombocyten worden net als erytrocyten gemaakt in het beenmerg. Bloedplaatjes vormen een essentieel onderdeel van de bloedstolling – het proces dat ervoor zorgt dat een wondje stopt met bloeden. Een normale waarde varieert tussen de 150 en 400. Een te lage waarde (trombocytopenie) kan tot bloedingen leiden. Een waarde lager dan 30 kan zeer gevaarlijke situaties opleveren en vraagt directe aandacht van een arts. Een te hoge waarde (trombocytose) kan veroorzaakt worden door bv. infecties, een ijzergebrek en beenmergaandoeningen.
MCV, MCH, MCHCDe gemiddelde grootte van de rode bloedcel kan worden gemeten. Deze meting kreeg de naam MCV en staat voor mean corpuscular volume. Aan de hand van deze meting kan de oorzaak van bloedarmoede worden achterhaald. Zo kunnen afwijkende waarden wijzen op tekorten aan bijvoorbeeld B12 of ijzer. Een normaal MCV ligt ongeveer tussen de 80 en 100.
Symptomen om bloedwaarden te testen
Omdat het algemeen bloedonderzoek zoveel verschillende waarden bevat, kan het scala aan symptomen bij een eventuele afwijking in één of meerdere van de bloedwaarden, dus ook zeer divers zijn. Een van de meest voorkomende afwijkingen in bloedonderzoek is een afwijking in het hemoglobine (Hb). Meestal gaat dit om een tekort aan hemoglobine. Dit wordt ook wel bloedarmoede of anemie genoemd.

Een normaal hemoglobine is verschillend voor mannen en vrouwen. Voor mannen ligt een normaal Hb ongeveer tussen 8.5 en 11, voor vrouwen tussen 7.5 en 10.
Een normaal hematocriet is ook verschillend voor mannen en vrouwen. Voor mannen geldt ongeveer de range: 40% tot 50%, voor vrouwen geldt ongeveer de range 35% tot 45%
Een erytrocytenwaarde die als normaal wordt beschouwd is afhankelijk van geslacht. Voor mannen geldt een range ongeveer tussen de 4.4 en 5.8 en voor vrouwen geldt een range ongeveer tussen 4 en 5.3.
De leukocytenwaarde is gelijk voor mannen en vrouwen en ligt ongeveer in de range 4 tot 10.
De trombocytenwaarde behoort normaal in de range van 150 tot 400 te vallen.
De MCV waarde valt normaal gesproken ongeveer in de range 80 tot 100.
